Pivot Point Releases Design Forum 277, Phenomena
Taking off in new directions with fresh inspirational statements, the Design Forum 277, Phenomena Fall/Winter 2005-2006 collection uses two creative approaches that produce distinctly different designs. Turning to the fashion world for inspiration, the Pivot Point DF Artistic Design Team realized that a departure from the influence of retro fashion and connections to the past is happening.
In its place, the DF Team saw a strong influence of the artisan in today’s fashion, ranging from the intricacies of embroidery to new luxury in fabrics and skilled workmanship. These are replacing the “throwaway culture” of previous seasons. Clearly, the increasing visibility of beautiful design and modern craftsmanship in fashion and in hair design is welcomed.
Throughout the creative process, two simple words guided the vision of the DF Team – “rethink” and “unexpected”. Working with these two words, they developed a plan for the looks of each model. First, the Team members considered the changes they wanted to make by rethinking classic design silhouettes. Then, they worked with traditional craft techniques and applied them in contemporary, unexpected ways. The results are two distinctive statements for each model: (1) Romantic and (2) Wild and Powerful.
In the creation of DF 277, Phenomena, the DF Artistic Design Team:
• Defined unexpected color choices and placements using hair additions;
• Created a face-framing asymmetric fringe with overlapping layers;
• Applied disconnection and symmetry with graduation and increase layers;
• Produced soft feathery textures that harmonize with contrasting lines;
• Sculpted with techniques including slide cutting, peeling, freeform texturizing, notching, etching, and point cutting.
The complete DF 277, Phenomena styling collection provides inspiration, innovation and complete technical education.
