Josh Wood is one of the hair and beauty industries foremost trend setters and his work has impacted the international beauty landscape for nearly two decades. He arrived in London from his native Barnsley with £20 in his pocket and has since gone on to develop his formidable career via New York, South East Asia and Japan, before making London his permanent base. Wood is credited as being the most influential and respected hair colourist in the world and is Wella Professional Global Creative Director, Colour.
Josh’s talent for creative and inventive techniques in colour has led to securing an enviable client base that have him on speed dial, while appearances at trade shows around the world have industry fans clamouring to witness first hand his expertise in hair colouring. He is credited with creating techniques which go on to set the colour tones globally including ‘hyper natural’, making grey ok and ‘surf kissed’ with lighter ends and darker roots.
As his reputation increases the demand for his work grows ever stronger with Josh contributing on a wealth of high profile campaigns and editorial features in some of the world’s leading publications. Highlights have included British, US and Japanese Vogue, Elle, Grazia and W magazine alongside collaborating on catwalk shows including Louis Vuitton, Jean Paul Gaultier, Haider Ackerman and Marc Jacobs. In 2010 Josh won the Hair Icon award in the P&G Beauty Awards voted for by his peers and UK media.
September 2011 saw Josh embark on a new phase of his career with the launch of the Atelier in Notting Hill. The Atelier is a creative hub for Wood and his dream team of colourists, stylists and beauty therapists and is an ever-evolving space with art collaborations and an interior to reflect its ‘anti-salon’ ethic.
