WATCH: Ulta Beauty’s Conversation on Black Representation

With current events calling attention to the lack of diversity and representation across the pro beauty industry, Ulta Beauty engaged its pro audience in an illuminating Facebook Live discussion. Special guests and Ulta Pro Team Members Pekela Riley (@pekelariley) and David Lopez (@davidlopezzz) and Ulta Beauty Diversity and Inclusion Director Crystal Andrews Banks joined hosts Nick Stenson (@nickstenson) and Ammon Carver(@ammoncarver) for a special episode of Unveiling Beauty—scroll to watch the Facebook Live!

“Not only do we recognize that textured hair is a component that helps to round out each stylist, we also [must] celebrate black stylists that are colorists or amplify that they are not just boxed in to textured hair and also bringing textured hair to the inclusive service set for all stylists,” Pekela said during the conversation.

Ulta Beauty made a donation to the Equal Justice Initiative, a nonprofit that works to end mass incarceration, excessive punishment, and racial inequality. In addition, the company will continue its diversity and inclusion training for associates, Crystal shared.
