“It’s all about the way you’re layering,” Sam said about this cut. “Execute graduation in a different way.” Here’s how he does it:

• Work in vertical layers, slide-cutting short to long for softness and loose weight.
• Create an initial “rim” around the hair to use as a guide throughout the cut (watch this at 0:57 and as Sam says, “Don’t panic!”).
• Remember to use thinner sections on thicker hair (to remove more hair) and thicker sections on finer hair (to leave more hair on the head).
• P.S. The model’s haircolor? Sam did it! He used Redken City Beats Big Apple Red.
