These 8 Celebrities Had the Biggest Impact on the Hair Industry in 2024

As we close out 2024, we’d be remiss not to acknowledge the celebrities who had the biggest impact on the hair industry this year. Whether they launched a hair brand, partnered with a professional one or sparked a viral hair trend that inundated your clients’ inspo pics, ahead you’ll find the eight celebrities who ruled the year in hair.

1. Sabrina Carpenter

‘Twas the year of Sabrina Carpenter. The 25-year-old songstress went on the “Short n’ Sweet” world tour (and thus released SO many top hits: “Espresso,” “Please Please Please” and “Good Graces” to name a few), ruled every red carpet and somehow found time to become Redken’s first-ever Celebrity Ambassador

But before even inking the Redken deal, clients everywhere were handing their stylists’ inspo images of Sabrina’s golden blonde curtain bangs by celebrity hairstylist Laurie Heaps (@_hairbylaurie). Scroll below to reminisce on some of Sabrina’s best hair looks of 2024.

2. Beyoncé

In February 2024, Beyoncé announced the launch of Cécred, her much-anticipated haircare line. The brand’s first collection was the Foundation Collection made up of eight products that cleanse, condition, nourish and repair. The products are designed for hair textures from straight to coily including virgin, color-treated, chemically-processed and heat-styled.

In addition to the haircare line, Bey showed her loyalty to the professional hair industry by launching an annual grant program in collaboration with her charity foundation, BeyGood. The program allocates $500,000 annually to fund cosmetology school scholarships and salon business grants across the U.S.

3. Sydney Sweeney

The viral Teddy Bronde hair color became that much more popular this year when “Euphoria” actress Sydney Sweeney debuted the warm hue. In addition to sporting the highly-requested shade, Sydney also stepped into an ambassdor role with Kérastase whose products helped create some of her top red carpet hairstyles of the year.

4. Troye Sivan

Australian singer, songwriter and actor Troye Sivan had a breakout year and snagged his first-ever GRAMMY nomination for his party-starting single “Rush.” The starlet also joined the Schwarzkopf Professional Global Brand Ambassador family and made headlines with his new beachy-blonde shade by Jacob Schwartz (@jacobschwartzhair). 5. Tracee Ellis Ross

Though Tracee Ellis Ross founded Pattern Beauty in 2019, Tracee and her brand (now available in Ulta Beauty and Sephora) had plenty of viral moments in 2024. Case in point: the launch of Pattern’s At-Home Hair Steamer designed to bring the salon experience home and help those with natural textured hair penetrate their deep conditioning masks even deeper. The game-changing innovation fills a gap that brings accessible, at-home homecare to those with textured hair.

6. Hailey Bieber

While Hailey Bieber isn’t the official ambassador for any one hair brand (perhaps a rhode® haircare line is coming?), every single thing the new mom does to her hair sparks a viral moment. From her glazed brunette hair color to her preppy contoured bob to selling-out the K18 Hair Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask, her styles are some of the most sought-after on the internet. See below for looks that landed her on our most influential celebrities in hair list in 2024 and beyond:

7. Dua Lipa

Cherry Cola hair was perhaps one of the biggest trending hair colors of 2024 thanks in large part to Dua Lipa and her colorist, Ben Gregory (@bengregoryhair). While Ben originally created the color on the “Houdini” singer in late 2023, the deep, cherry red hue stuck around for most of this year. Interested in replicating the shade? 8. Rihanna

While Rihanna’s music fans may never get the next album they’re so patiently waiting for, it’s for good reason. This year the busy entrepreneur and mom of two launched Fenty Hairthe newest Fenty beauty line that caters to a range of textured hair types and curl patterns and is now sold in Sephora. Fenty Hair rounds out the Fenty Beauty family which already includes makeup, skincare and fragrances.
