Love is all you need at THE BTC SHOW! Now in its eighth year, this year’s super inspirational “summer camp for hairdressers” is in Washington, D.C., where 3,500 hairdressers came together this weekend to experience first-day feels, get top-notch education and spread the LOVE! Cutting Co-Lab
We started strong with a line-up of all-star cutters covering everything from cool-girl bobs, lobs and shags to men’s grooming. The Co-Lab squad—Dyson Guest Artist @anhcotran, Virtue® Brand Ambassador @buddywporter, Hot Tools Professional Guest Artist @chrisjones_hair, L’ANZA Healing Haircare Global Director @matt.swinney, TIGI® Professional Creative Director @joeltorresstyle and Victory Barber & Brand Founder @mattyconrad—showed us their best tips and tricks, with plenty of jokes. And something super cool: we got to see a few of these artists’ fave ARC™ Scissors and how they use them!
John Paul Mitchell Systems
Paul Mitchell brought a powerhouse team to the stage! Co-Owner and Artistic Educator of the Paul Mitchell Schools @angusmitchell_, Global Artistic and Business Director @robertcromeans, and fantastic educators @cuomocromeans, @colincaruso, @noogiethai, @kocielski, @lucasdoney, @hairbypaulaperalta and @popular_nobody brought serious hair education and major business tips.
Schwarzkopf Professional
The Schwarzkopf team delivered stunning hair color looks and salon-friendly techniques. And with educators like @maggiemh, @josievilay, @lizhaven, @evanjosephcurls, @ianhairspray, @rossajurenas and @allie.style…of COURSE they did!
Joico
From celeb styling to color corrections, Joico’s lineup was STACKED. Lady Gaga’s mane man @fredericaspiras joined @larisadoll, @richardmannah, @iamginabianca, @stylistricardosantiago and @hairbycherryp in an energetic presentation that was so much fun to watch on stage!
Wella Professionals
Speaking of a stacked lineup…Wella’s crew had major educators @romeufelipe, @cwoodhair, @brianacisneros, @ryan.weeden and @zachmesquit, covering everything you need to know from high-contrast balayage to celeb styling to foilayage to serious blonding!
Mary’s Interview with Frederic Aspiras
In a very special segment, Mary sat down with @fredericaspiras, Lady Gaga’s long-time hair collaborator, head of hair for Haus of Gaga and Joico Ambassador Artist. In his first appearance EVER at a hair show, Frederic was open and honest, sharing what it’s like to be a stylist and close friend to a superstar and details behind some of his most iconic looks.
Virtue®
More super-strong hair education came with the Virtue® team, who brought celeb hairdresser @hairbyadir and celeb colorist @nicolaclarkecolour to the stage with Virtue® Founder and CEO @melisseshaban. Adir and Nicola are responsible for some of Hollywood’s biggest names…Nicola colors MADONNA’S hair (SO COOL), plus Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet, and Adir is the longtime hairdresser to Reese Witherspoon and Kristen Stewart, so we loved to hear these two dish on their techniques.
TIGI® Professional
Ready for edgy-yet-wearable education? We sure were, so we were thrilled to see the TIGI® team! We loved the energy VP of Education and Creative Director-Americas @thomas.osborn, U.S. Technical Education Director @renee.valerie, Creative Director @joeltorresstyle, Brand Ambassador @wesdoeshair, @adriana_papaleo, @egostyle and @christopher_facezportfolio brought to the stage.
PRAVANA
Closing out Day 1 was the PRAVANA Collective, and these peeps dropped a super creative show: @presleypoe, @chitabeseau, @kayla_boyer, @rossmichaelssalon, @taylorrae_hair, @nealmmalek, @theniksters, @itsaspenrae and @hairbyfranco do such inventive work!
