close formula

In need of some extra cash? Did you know the Professional Beauty Association has your back? Whether new salon owners or students in cosmetology school, stylists have access to a number of scholarships that can help with the cost of expenses like education and salon resources.

The PBA Scruples Scholarship is an example of a new scholarship offered through the PBA. Here are all the need-to-know details:

  • One new salon owner will be awarded a $1000 scholarship that can be applied toward business- or technology-related education only, as well as resources for the winning salon owner.
  • Applicants must own a salon that is open for fewer than 12 months as of Dec. 31, 2017, and is staffed with four or fewer employees.
  • Submissions can be entered here until Dec. 31, 2017.

“As this industry changes, with the growth of salon suites and independent contractors, the traditional small hair salon environment is decreasing,” says Michael Riley, Scruples Chief Operating Officer. “Scruples worked with the Professional Beauty Association to create this scholarship because Scruples still believes that the small entrepreneurial salon is vitally important.”

Even though applicants don’t need to be a member of the PBA to apply for a scholarship, you can learn more about becoming a member by visiting http://probeauty.org/membership.

“The Professional Beauty Association strives to advance our industry through programs and initiatives that support growth and sustainability,” says PBA Executive Director Steve Sleeper. “The PBA Scruples Scholarship is one way we can help salon owners who are just starting to build their businesses access resources and tools to help them continue to build a solid foundation for their business.”
