Here’s How Sport Clips Haircuts Is Making A Charitable Impact

Sport Clips Haircuts’ philanthropic efforts are nothing new—in fact, they’ve been working with some of their charitable partners for more than a decade. From funding scholarships for veterans to fundraising for childhood cancer research, their work is equally diverse and impactful. See how Sport Clips is making a difference to so many people through four key charities ahead.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW) “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” Program

Since 2013, Sport Clips has been a proud partner with the VFW in supporting the Help A Hero Scholarship Program. They are in their tenth year of being the primary funder of this program where they raise money through in-store client donations, bake sales, raffles, product partner contributions and more. The donations go to scholarships for service members and veterans for use at post-secondary schools and trade schools. Together, more than 2,720 scholarships have been awarded totaling a cool $12.3 million.

Go Bald With The St. Baldrick’s Foundation

In 2016, Sport Clips signed on as St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s first national sponsor and since then has contributed $2.7 million to life-saving childhood cancer research. Sport Clips Team Members support St. Baldrick’s by hosting, volunteering and fundraising for head-shaving events around the U.S.. At the events, shavers and shavees collect donations before and during, show up and shave or get shaved and then the money is donated to St. Baldrick’s.

Anyone can host a shave event at a location of their choosing. Contributing to the events help Sport Clips Team Members connect and have fun with the community and of course—make a difference! Find out more about hosting your own shave event here.

Race To Give Blood With The American Red Cross

Every September—the time of year when blood donations typically decline—Sport Clips partners with the American Red Cross to give free haircuts to anyone who donates blood that month. The donor will receive a free haircut coupon via email to be redeemed at participating Sport Clips locations around the country. As a bonus, anyone who donates is automatically entered to win a VIP NASCAR race experience at Darlington Raceway, where Sport Clips is a sponsor and hosts the “Sport Clip Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200” Xfinity Race. The partnership between Sport Clips and the Red Cross has been going strong since 2009 and has had a major impact on replenishing the national blood supply.

Giving Veterans Their “Dream Flights”

Sport Clips is the primary sponsor for Dream Flights; a non-profit dedicated to honoring United States military veterans by offering them flights in a Boeing Stearman biplane—the same aircraft used to train many military aviators in the 1930s and ’40s. These flights are made possible through Sport Clips’ annual sponsorship and Team Members who volunteer their time doing things like going to the airport to help the veterans on and off the plane, supporting the Dream Flights crew and more.

To date, the organization has flown more than 6,000 veterans. Any veteran can request a Dream Flight or their family and friends can nominate them.
