How-To: Seamless Root Smudge
A great way to add some interest to the blondie in your chair is by creating dimension with a seamless root smudge. But sometimes, that smudge isn’t always so seamless. Find out how Jordan Boone (@jordaninlivingcolour), a stylist at Oliver’s Salon in Meridian, Idaho, perfectly blended a smoky shadow root with lightened strands. Check it out below!

Application
1. Starting at her hairline and angling back, section the hair into four quadrants of vertical slices. Leave a ½-inch section in between each slice for dimension.
2. Apply Formula A in the front quadrants and Formula B in the back quadrants.
3. Tone with Formula C to break the base just enough to lighten her natural hair. Rinse and towel-dry.
4. Tone again with Formula D starting at the base and pulling it all the way through to the ends. Process for 10 minutes.
