How-To: A Vivid Journey
Taking a base this dark and creating a beautiful vivid ombré takes skill, people! We loved this journey through vivid shades by Chloe Gross (@chloe_theyoungamerican) from Young American Salon in Tustin, Calif., and you all agreed—that rich violet got almost 9,000 likes on Instagram! Here’s the whole process.

Color Formulas
Formula A: Redken Flash Lift + 40-volume developer + Olaplex No.1
Formula B: 2 parts PRAVANA ChromaSilk VIVIDS Magenta + 1 part Wild Orchid
Formula C: Equal parts Joico Vero K-PAK Color Intensity Orchid + Color Intensity Amethyst Purple
How-To: Pink Ombré
1. Lighten hair with Formula A for 20 minutes in open air with no heat.
2. Wash hair, then apply Olaplex No.2. Shampoo and blow-dry.
3. Apply Formula B for 30 minutes under heat.
How-To: Take It To Violet
1. Apply Formula C for 30 minutes under heat as a vivid touch-up process.
Pricing:
For the first vivid color, Chloe charged $300 for the three-hour process. “My vivids and color corrections start at $250 and then go up depending on the time I spend,” Chloe says.
