Tonight was BTC's second #ONESHOT Hair Awards! We gave 13 #BIGSHOT Awards to celeb stylists, session artists, platform artists and educators; and 12 #HOTSHOT Awards to hairdressers doing real hair behind the chair. Finalists’ work was also featured on the cover of the latest behindthechair.com On Paper Magazine

2016 #ONESHOT
Hair Awards Winners!
When behindthechair.com started #ONESHOT last year, we had a simple goal: To celebrate real hair in a completely transparent way. We wanted an awards program where hairdressers could enter their work, see the work of others and have the chance to vote for their favorite shot—all through Instagram, a platform that has revolutionized the industry.
And so the #ONESHOT Hair Awards were born, receiving more than 47,000 entries from more than 20 countries in our first year. While that was mindblowing enough, we were even more amazed this year when the number of entries tripled to more than 130,000, setting the bar even higher and propelling the world’s biggest hair awards to amazing new heights. It was extremely difficult for BTC Founder and Creative Director Mary Rector-Gable and Social Media Director Kevin Givens to narrow down the top choices, but they still took to Facebook Live for five nights in a row to explain their finalist choices and why each shot was special.
Tonight, the 450 finalist shots—and EVERY shot you all submitted, all 130,000—were celebrated at BTC’s second annual #ONESHOT Hair Awards at the Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. where we’re hosting our COLOR, Cut & Style show. The room was filled with hairdressing icons—Anthony Mascolo, Kim Vo and Robert Cromeans—and social media stars like Guy Tang, Mark Bustos, Rickey Zito and Linh Phan (aka @guy_tang, @markbustos, @hairgod_zito and @bescene!).
