5 Expert Tips For Styling Bubble Ponies
1. Expand each bubble without flyaways.
Before @sunniebrook starts the first bubble section, she mists the full length of the pony with Biolage Finishing Spritz Non-Aerosol Hairspray to add shine to the foundation. Working in 1-inch sections down the ponytail, after every elastic, Sunnie pinches each bubble to expand.

2. Backbrush bubbles to build volume.
After @justinemarjan creates a base ponytail, she backbrushes each bubble section to build volume and support the round shape with The Wet Brush Shine Enhancer. Then, Justine uses her fingers to gently butterfly out the sides to create fullness before securing each section with an elastic.
Pro Tip: “For bubble ponies, I love to use ponytail extensions,” says Justine. “This offers maximum length and fullness without having to worry about blending in layers or natural hair.”

3. Try this smart sectioning idea.
Instead of working off of only one ponytail, @blohaute creates three base ponytails—at the crown, the occipital and the nape. She uses these focal points to determine the placement of each bubble, securing and covering the elastics by wrapping them with a small piece of hair. Then, she finishes with one final elastic further down the length of the pony.

4. Experiment with hair powder.
Do you use powders for a lift boost? Stylist @kristen_o_beauty applies a volumizing powder like Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Soft Dust to each bubble section. The puffs of powder create an invisible grip that adds volume to expand bubbles without any stickiness.

5. Elevate a bubble pony with accessories.
For clients who want to dress up their bubble pony, consider adding silk scrunchies, leather or ribbon, like @lacyredway who chose to tie off each section with velvet accents. It instantly elevates the style for a NYC cool-girl vibe.
