2 Creative Color Tips You Haven’t Heard Yet

close formula

The Farouk System team always nails #thebtcshow stage, and this year was no different. After Color Director Richard Jordan talked color blocking (see the article here!), a new trio of Farouk educators—Danielle Bucco-RegazziCynthia Diersen and Maggie O’Daniel—took the stage bringing color education and some girl-power vibes with them. Here are two tips we grabbed!

Create A Canoe Section
To create a really cool color effect, create a canoe-shaped section along the part line of the hair (this won’t always be in the middle, if your client parts their hair on the side, section it on the side) to apply your color. Why section like this? Because the hair is going to fall around this part, creating a curtain and framing the face with color.

Collaborate With Your Color
To create a melt like this, the team suggested a simple sectioning technique and picking colors that will blend nicely together. On the model below, they mixed Chromashine Pure Pink and Teal. Why? Because if you pick a color that is blue-based and then mix it with a pink, the end result will be violet. This is an example of collaborating colors—instead of adding violet, you can create it while also featuring blue and pink throughout the hair.
