Learn Technical Texture Education Online From Pro Beauty Experts

Texture education on color, cutting and multicultural styling—it’s all happening at the second-ever repHAIRations digital event! Hosted by color specialist and salon industry diversity and inclusion activist, Keya Neal (@keyaartistically), repHAIRations was created to help undo the damage caused by the industry’s racial divide by providing technical education to historically underserved Black and brown stylists.

What are the event details?

  • Date: November 1, 2021
  • This event is all ONLINE—watch from home!
  • Ticket price: $104
  • Black stylists can register for free, click here.
  • Every ticket purchase will go to benefit a charity that advances the civil and social rights of Black individuals

What is repHAIRations?

The repHAIRations is a digital education event for stylists with technical education on coloring techniques and textured hair styling, while acting as a forum for open dialogue about multicultural styling. The education curriculum will include LIVE looks and learn-and-listen education that showcases multi-ethnic artists, educators, seasoned stylists and influencers.

Keya teamed up with Schwarzkopf Professional, Joico, MIZANI, Redken, Bumble and bumble and SalonCentric to create an educational platform that serves all stylists, but provides scholarship access to Black and brown stylists. Non-Black stylists will enjoy textural color and cutting education as well, in addition to diversity and inclusion coaching to better prepare them for a culturally diverse clientele.

Check out the artist lineup & curriculum:

  • Genia Church with Schwarzkopf Professional: Elevated Color Melting Techniques for All Textures
  • Leticia McKay & Brandon Corbitt with Joico: Balayage & Color Correct with Ease
  • Christiaan Van Bremen with Bumble & Bumble: The Bumble Approach: Razor Cutting
  • Brenda Amaral of True Education: True Chemistry: Ingredients
  • Cassandra Platinum & Jamal Edmonds with MIZANI & Redken
  • Jeannetta Walker-Rodgers with Alfaparf Milano
  • Daniel Mason-Jones with SalonCentric

How can Black stylists register for free?

RepHAIRation education is free to all Black stylists as part of their equitable education program. Together, Keya and the partner brands hope to level the educational landscape and avoid causing more harm or economic challenges to the community of Black stylists. The profit from the ticket sales will be donated to organizations who support Black lives and the advancement of Black people. Last year’s event provided education to over 900 Black stylists across the country during the height of the COVID-19 lockdown and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Black stylists are invited to register for free by filling out this submission form.

Why was repHAIRations created?

While there is no shortage of straight hair education, there is a shortage of this education reaching the Black community. “We intend to educate the Black/brown community at the same rate we are educating the white market,” says Keya and the RepHAIRations team. “The salon industry is deeply afflicted by the residue of racial biases, which has been the driving force of the silent segregation that has taken root within the salon industry’s education itself.”
