The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation just announced the 2019 Legacy Honoree at a conference during Cosmoprof North America. The foundation will be honoring the late Paul Mitchell with the Legacy Award during the 7th annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience co-hosted by America’s Beauty Show and Pivot Point International. Paul’s son, Angus Mitchell, will accept the award honoring his father’s legacy.

Paul Mitchell will be honored as the 2019 Legacy honoree.

An icon in the world of styling and fashion, Paul Mitchell revolutionized the art and science of hairdressing while transforming the way the world thinks about haircare. Long before “environmental stewardship” was a mainstream component of corporate social responsibility, Paul pioneered innovations that ranged from alternative energy systems, and cruelty-free product testing to natural ingredients, including the Hawaiian awapuhi wild ginger still used as a primary ingredient in Paul Mitchell products. In addition to his contributions that protected the planet and its people, Paul was also an advocate for professional education, and his approach to professional education lives on in the JPMS schools.

Paul becomes the seventh recipient of the award which recognizes an industry professional whose career defined a commitment to supporting and empowering the next generation of beauty and wellness professionals. Previous recipients include Horst Rechelbacher, Sydell and Arnold Miller, Howard Murad, MD, Leo Passage, Tippi Hedren and Vidal Sassoon.

Legacy honorees are selected by directors of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation, a board representing some of the world’s leading beauty brands and influencers. “The Paul Mitchell brand represents the intersection of compassion and innovation—two elements that defined Paul’s life and continue to be lived out by the company he founded,” shares Lynelle Lynch, Beauty Changes Lives Foundation President. “We are humbled to honor his legacy.”

The annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience and the signature Legacy Award Dinner unites hairstylists and professional beauty brands to honor an industry legend while paying success forward to support the next generation of beauty professionals. Since its founding in 2013, the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation has raised more than $5 million to support NextGen talent.
