The “New” Redken Exchange

close formula

BTC stopped by the new Redken Exchange last week and all we can say is O.M.G.—it’s totally gorgeous! The 9,100-square-foot space features everything you can imagine in its trendy midtown location—a modern reception area, an open-concept work area (featuring 40 chairs!), floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the famous Fifth Avenue and beautiful wall art to inspire every stylist in the studio. Yeah, their new space is the epitome of modern-meets-urban-edge, and yeah, we’re completely obsessed.

The Exchange is fully equipped with everything you could need at a salon— a spacious layout, tons of natural light and an amazing shampoo station!

Of course, as one of the industry’s leading resources for premier education and skill development, Redken needed a state-of-the-art space to house all the creative energy coming in and out of the exchange. Equipped with a multimedia station and testing area where stylists can experiment with Redken’s latest technology and product launches, as well as a spacious 72-seat theater equipped with a power outlet and USB port at each seat, the Exchange is the perfect place for continuing your education.

Beautiful and inspiring art hangs throughout the Exchange.

The curriculum found at the Redken Exchange features popular existing classes including “Destination NAHA”, facilitated by Kris Sorbie and Ellen Lawlor, along with a variety of brand new classes that include: “Blonde Idol–Balayage” facilitated by Kris, Adam Browne and Sean Godard; “Redken Underground” facilitated by Hugo Urias, Justin Isaac and Sean Godard; and “Outside the Lines” facilitated by Sam Villa, Justin Isaac, Tara Gardiner and Sarah Bramham.

Every class starts out with a little “live caffeine!” Meaning the students and educators get fired up before starting the day, and of course we asked for a group photo!

“Redken Education’s mission has always been to educate artists through inspiration, fashion and innovation, and the new Redken Exchange embodies these very core values. As soon as you walk in, you immediately feel the brand’s hip, edgy and fun vibe,” says Sheri Doss, VP of Redken Education Worldwide. “While at the same time, artists who visit the space are exposed to all the latest educational resources and technological advances, as well as classes taught by world renowned educators, all in one space. We could not be more excited about our new home.”

This sign hangs in the walkway between the Gallerie and the Exchange.

Below the exchange, there is a newly-redesigned, 900-square-foot Redken Gallerie located on the ground level on Fifth Avenue. As the only Redken retail store in the world, the Gallerie serves as a go-to destination for stylists to purchase their favorite Redken haircare and styling products, haircolor tools and gear. Plus, it has the same aesthetic as the Exchange, so of course we love it!

Selfie time!

The new Redken Exchange, located at 404 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10018, is currently open and hosting classes. The Redken Gallerie opened to the public starting in August 2016. For a complete list of class offerings, visit www.RedkenPro.com.
