Moroccanoil® Partners With Parsons School of Design To Create Sustainable Packaging
Moroccanoil® is partnering with Parsons School of Design at The New School to design environmentally friendly packaging in support of the Moroccanoil® sustainability mission. Moroccanoil® will engage 24 students in the MFA Industrial Design and BFA Product Design programs in a classroom competition through the Fall 2019 semester, leveraging sustainability as a source of inspiration to create innovative solutions for the packaging and delivery of Moroccanoil® products. The winning projects will be selected and announced in December 2019 with the chance of being rolled out into the brand’s product lineup across all channels.
“Our goal is to continue taking steps to further our commitment to the planet and to create beauty in a more sustainable way that respects the world around us,” said Moroccanoil® Co-founder Carmen Tal. “We are thrilled to gain access to the next generation of forward-thinking creatives at Parsons and recruit them for an initiative that will live beyond a class project.”
During the course, students will develop new skills and further their knowledge in the areas of user and brand research, concept development, testing, analysis, prototyping and more. Following the completion of the course, students will present portfolios to a panel of judges, including Carmen and Sustainability Manager Bryan Zimmerman, as well as esteemed Parsons faculty members, including Parsons School of Constructed Environments Dean Robert Kirkbride, Director of BFA Product Design Joel Stoehr and Director of MFA Industrial Design Rama Chorpash. One MFA winner and one BFA winner will be selected, with the chance that Moroccanoil® will bring their concepts to life by introducing the new packaging to a global network of devoted consumers.
Moroccanoil® is on a journey of continuously improving the sustainability of our practices, and we’re constantly learning how to best contribute to this global movement. The brand is excited to expand its current efforts to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to the creation of a more sustainable future with the following initiatives:
