Research Stylist/Product Evaluation
The Henkel Corporation is offering a full-time Research Stylist/Product Evaluation position supporting the NA Retail Hair Care Research & Development Division (got2b, Keratin Color, Gliss). The position offers numerous opportunities for those interested in pursuing careers in hair styling and new hair technology development, specifically in consumer trial and product evaluation. The Research Stylist/Product Evaluation will function as part of an integrated, cross- functional R&D team. Primary responsibility is testing products on consumers by preparing, cleansing, coloring, conditioning, and styling hair using defined protocols.
Creatively style, color and care for many types of hair and hair styles for men and women. Produces desired product effects by arranging, shaping, curling, cutting, trimming, setting, bleaching, dyeing, and tinting hair.
Prepares hair for styling by analyzing hair conditions, coloring, shampooing and treating hair. Able to perform all hair styling needs on all types of hair (Caucasian, Hispanic, African American, Asian and Multi-Cultural hair types)
Determine differences in product aesthetics and performance by executing prototypes on clients heads.
Write and maintain standard operating procedures and test methods for the salon.
Set up product test plans with Scientists and recruit models internally and externally for all hair types, maintaining a database of models for various testing needs.
Preparing hair tresses and mannequin heads for R&D demos.
Participates in corporate Public Relation events and Sales meetings.
Effectively communicate product test plans with consumers and conferring with them about product effects on hair.
Understand and keep informed about styling trends and in market products trends.
Maintains quality service and safe and healthy conditions by following organization standards and legal regulations.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.
Manages a fully operational test hair salon located onsite at Henkel, Stamford: maintains supplies and equipment, anticipates salon needs, places orders, plans test schedules, schedules models and manages salon participant reward payments.
4-year degree or 5+ years equivalent work experience required Must currently be a licensed stylist in Connecticut (or another state), maintains a stylist license and board certification for the salon Experience working in a testing salon preferred and/or experience managing a salon. Experience working with all types of hair (Caucasian, Hispanic, African American, Asian and Multi-Cultural) Basic personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and databases are required Experience testing products and analyzing information Demonstrate confidentiality and professionalism Strong written and verbal communication Organization and attention to detail Willingness to work in a corporate environment Travel required, up to 10%
