Douglas and Sharon Weaver started the Douglas J family of companies in 1967 with five employees and a passion for the Salon/Spa industry. They wanted to build a location that could pride itself on exceeding the guests’ expectations with every Douglas J experience. Since the initial opening, Douglas J has gone through 50 years of growth, expansion and evolution. We now have 9 locations including Aveda Institutes, Aveda Concept Salons and our Aveda Salon & Spa. We offer a complete menu of services in hair design and color, skin care, nail therapy, and massage therapy. Entry Level Hair Designer – Master cutting, styling, and customizing your guest’s hair

About The Position: 

We’re seeking a newly licensed cosmetologist who is ready to jumpstart their career in Cosmetology! If you’re passionate about making your mark in our industry and becoming a master of hair cutting and styling, this opportunity is for you! Our training program was designed with Vivienne Mackinder to polish your technical skills and become a highly successful Hair Designer.

As an Emerging Artist in Hair Design you will focus on:

Learning to provide a thorough consultation to assess your guest’s ideal image while evaluating face shape, hair texture, and at-home maintenance preferences
Practicing your delivery of individualized services to achieve the guest’s ideal cut or style by using fine-tuned techniquesOur skilled Art Directors and Educators will work one-on-one with you to develop your skills in:Blow-Dry and Finishing Techniques
Strengthening your Foundational Cutting Skills
Advancing your Cutting and Formal Style Techniques
Practice educating the guest on how to achieve their look at home using the Aveda products
Building relationships with guests and making pre-booking recommendations to attain guest retention

What we’re looking for:

State of Michigan Cosmetology License
Charismatic, approachable personality
Personal drive to advance your skills
Experience working with Aveda products
