Winter Hair Makeover

close formula

Autumn has arrived, and those falling leaves aren’t the only thing changing colors. Your clients want all sorts of fresh color updates—rich jewel-tones, buttery blondes and deep, mesmerizing browns! But this season, your job as a stylist tends to get a little harder—fall’s dry cold is brutal on your clients’ tender tresses.

Master Colorist and Pai-Shau Brand Ambassador, Rob PIzzuti, from Blyss Salon in Toronto, Canada knows this all too well. As someone who specializes in color corrections, Rob has dealt with all sorts of damaged hair. And whatever the type—chemically challenged, over-processed, over-relaxed or seasonally damaged—Rob says one thing is key: hydration! That’s why Rob’s secret weapon is the ultra-concentrated, nourishing Pai-Shau Collection. “In one application we have managed to correct 85 percent of the disaster and, most importantly, keep the quality of the hair as a number one concern,” says Rob

Made with a special Signature Exotic Tea Complex, the products in this line are game-changers for the industry. Weightless and deeply replenishing, Pai-Shau is the moisture master for any dire situation, perfect for pre-treatments as well as aftercare—making it a retail home run. Especially Pai-Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask, which provides intense hydration!

“It may seem time-consuming to apply several Supreme Revitalizing Mask applications, but as stylists, we need to educate our clientele on the safe way to repair the hair while keeping color vibrant,” says Rob. “Yes, you charge for treatments and you charge for your time. Once you have done a major correction where the hair looks and feels better than before you started bleaching…the client and everyone she works with will want to see you.”

See how you can incorporate Pai-Shau into your color service for better-than-ever results that will leave her hair healthy and her color radiant.

HOW-TO STEPS

  • 1

Before mixing your color, start the process with a generous application of Pai-Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask to create a thick conditioner barrier to protect her over-processed hair.

  • 2

Mix a blue-based lightener + 20-volume developer. Start the application quickly—when the hair is left in a raw state like this, it will usually lighten very quickly.

Note: “When doing this, I don’t have to be too concerned with damaging the blonde areas since I have applied a thick layer of Supreme Revitalizing Mask treatment,” says Rob. “The treatment will not only moisturize the hair as I am lifting, but will slow down any lightener that may swell below the orange areas.”

  • 3

Process until an even medium gold tone is achieved and rinse. Cleanse and apply Supreme Revitalizing Mask from scalp to ends and allow the hair to process for 12 to 15 minutes. The mask will cool the scalp and rehydrate the hair to make the full tone application as comfortable as possible.

  • 4

Rinse and apply Enhance Ritual Biphasic Infusion from roots to end and dry with cool/warm air.

  • 5

Using foils, freehand a high lift blonde (12.1) + 30-volume developer to blend the line of demarkation from the root to the lighter, over-processed areas. Since the hair has been brought to a medium gold, it’s safe to use a high lift color instead of lightener.

Note: “If you prefer to use lightener for this step, remember that the hair is already at a Level 7-8 and that you will need a full 20 minutes to cool down all the areas in-between to achieve a cool base where the orange used to be,” says Rob.

  • 6

Once the freehand foils are placed, apply a non-ammonia color from root to ends. (Rob’s formula for the medium gold area was 20g  7.1 + 10g 77.0 + 10-volume developer.)

  • 7

Rinse, cleanse and condition. Re-apply Supreme Revitalizing Mask to calm scalp irritation and smooth the hair after processing.

  • 8

Towel-dry the hair and apply a generous amount of Enhance Ritual Biphasic Infusion for added nourishment, heat protection and incredible glass like shine.
