HOW-TO STEPS

Prep wet hair by applying Kenra Platinum Voluminous Touch Root Mousse 8 directly at the roots.

Then, apply Kenra Platinum Voluminous Touch Spray Lotion 14 throughout the midlengths and ends and use a wide-tooth comb to evenly distribute the product.

Before going in with a round brush, assess the density and texture of your client’s hair to determine how much of it should be rough dried. Since Cassie’s model has fine hair yet high density, she rough dried it about 80 to 90 percent.

Pro Tip: Overdirect the hair at the root while rough drying to ensure you achieve max volume in targeted areas.

Next, section the hair into quadrants with a Mohawk strip on top bordering where your client’s preferred part is.

Blow-dry section by section using a round brush and then pin certain subsections to cool based on how you want the volume to build.

Pro Tip: If your client has a longer face shape, build the volume out horizontally. If she has a shorter face shape, build the volume out vertically.

Let the subsections cool in place before unclipping them, then touch everything up with a curling iron as needed.

For the style, start by taking a large section at the crown. Use a brush to smooth out the surface and then backcomb at the base if desired.

Place the section where you want it to sit but don’t pin it yet. Instead, gently pinch and pull where you want the volume at the crown.

Apply Kenra Platinum Finishing Spray 26 to lock in the shape and then use pins to secure the crown.

Then, detail the style by taking smaller subsections, twisting them back and pinning them into place.
