Textured Pompadour Updo How-To from Pivot Point International
Imagine it: A woman shredding her guitar onstage, and once the curtain hits, she’s off to a gala downtown. She’s effortlessly gorgeous with an undeniable edge. In a sea of soft wavy locks, she’s the one wearing a fierce updo with texture.
This is the look we’d imagine that woman wearing. Not for the faint of heart, this updo does all the talking—and luckily, it’s not hard to create this bold look. Follow along with these steps from Pivot Point International, and your client will be ready for the concrete jungle in no time.
HOW-TO STEPS
-
1
Section a rectangle shape from the recession on both sides to the crown. Section the sides with diagonal-forward partings from the back of the rectangle to the sideburn area. Then, section a rounded triangle in the back and position a slightly off-center ponytail within this section. -
3
Diagonally divide the nape in half, then backbrush the section.
-
4
Smooth the backbrushed section toward the ponytail and secure. Repeat on the other side. Next, smooth the side sections toward the ponytail.
-
5
Crimp all the hair in the interior section.
-
6
Backcomb random sections and form loose, rough loops. Leave the ends free and secure.
-
7
Continue using the same technique to build asymmetrical volume in the crown. Incorporate the ponytail lengths as well.
-
8
Lightly backcomb an asymmetric fringe section. Drape it from the right to the left, turn the ends under and secure. Continue forming loops in the interior before detailing the loose ends.
-
9
The finished look is a sleek, close-fitting exterior with a highly textured interior, creating a contemporary take on the pompadour.
