Create a zigzag parting around the head at the crown. Clip the zigzag parting out of the way.

 

Pro Tip: The zigzag parting helps build in automatic dimension by creating highs and lows throughout the hair. Plus, this zigzag circle will act as a veil over the bottom section for even more dimension.

After 5 minutes, pull the root shade through to the ends. Use your fingers to ensure complete saturation. This technique will give the ends more movement and dimension.

 

Pro Tip: To pull the color through, Renee uses what she calls a stretching comb, also known as a barber comb. Any wide-tooth comb will work—just avoid a pintail comb, which will remove too much color.

Process for 20 minutes, then rinse and lightly shampoo with TIGI® Copyright Custom Care Colour Shampoo. Apply the TIGI® Copyright Custom Care SOS Extreme Recovery Treatment.

Pastel pink bobs are trending, and this technique by TIGI® U.S. Technical Education Director Renée Valerie (@renee.valerie) demonstrates a two-formula technique that uses creative sectioning to up your client’s color game. Plus, she explains how she restores her clients’ hair to a virgin-like state in 5 minutes at the backbar…we’re definitely interested!

 

“This technique is very quick—I can do it in about 10 minutes,” Renée said at the BTC House in LA. “Creative doesn’t have to be complicated. The simplest techniques can be the most effective.” What sets this technique apart? “Instead of one shade all over, this is something your client can’t do by themselves,” she said. “You can charge more—for example, charge for a creative toning technique—than for an all-over color.”
