French Faux Hawk

“A Mohawk with the sophistication of a French twist,” is how Michael Shaun Corby, Living Proof Global Creative Director, explains this look. If your client is inspired by the ’70s or ’80s punk scene, but still wants a style with a dash of class—this is a definite go-to. Here’s how Michael created the look.

HOW-TO STEPS

    Start with hair that has been curled and sprayed with Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast. Then section out the crown.

    Take the remaining hair and gather it into a ponytail, securing the elastic 4 inches from the ends.

    Twist the section in an upward direction until a French twist shape is formed, then secure with pins.

    Tie the hair in a knot right above the elastic.

    Lightly backcomb the crown section with your fingers, spread to create a light tease.

    Roll into a Mohawk shape, pinning as you secure.

    Pin random sections to create additional volume and spray Full Dry Volume Blast.

    Spray Full Dry Volume Blast as you pinch the ends for more texture.
