Nothing sets off her look quite like a seamlessly blended, vibrant set of highlights. So you’ve got to give her the best, and that includes more than just your amazing color skills. Foil can be harsh and damaging for your client’s hair—too much heat and too much intensity. It’s time to consider your alternatives. Enter, Biolights Cotton Strips, perfect for gently and efficiently coloring her hair. It can give her more natural-looking highlights, a faster application and there’s no slipping, swelling or bleeding. Better yet, it allows you to get closer to her scalp in ways you couldn’t do with traditional foil.

Here, Rick Wellman, Biolights Founder, Celebrity Colorist and Hue Director at SAHAG Workshop, shows you how to create a seamless set of beautiful blonde highlights. With Biolights, you’re allowed all the highlighting benefits of traditional foiling while achieving a soft balayage effect. See how he did it!

    1

Highlight using Formula A with detailing at the regrowth. Use Biolights Color Cotton Strips in lieu of foil, allowing you to work closer to the root without overlapping or swelling on to your client’s previous overdone blonde.

  • 2

In each section, gently balayage Formula B, focusing on blending the heavy light blonde and leaving the porous tips out.

  • 3

Process for 20 minutes without heat.

  • 4

Remove Biolights while rinsing lowlights as to NOT mush the two together, then shampoo the hair.

  • 5

Glaze with Formula C at the regrowth to slightly soften the base color while also toning the freshly highlighted strands for 7 to 10 minutes.

  • 6

Marry Formula D into the midlengths and porous ends for 5 minutes to seal and create a lighter golden finish.
