Fashion Week How-To: Wella/Sebastian at Catherine Malandrino

Odile Gilbert and Wella’s Eva Scrivo worked together to create a nod to the 1930s for the Catherine Malandrino show during Fall Fashion Week. They used customized extensions, sophisticated chignons and alluring netting to achieve a feeling of the Surrealist Movement.

    1) Prepare hair with Shine Define to protect hair from hot tools used during styling and also leave a shinier finish.
    2) Tightly comb up hair to the front/top of the head into one ponytail; spray with Sebastian Professional hair spray: Shaper Zero Gravity as you comb, then Re-Shaper to hold.

Using extensions, create three-four chignons interweaving pieces from the models’ real hair.

    Color: Step-by-Step in Salon
Begin by sectioning off the top of the head and clip out of the way.

Working in horizontal sections around the head, use a combination of highlight and lowlight tones and paint vertically down the hair shaft.

Alternating the order of the color placement gives the haircolor a more organic, less symmetrical feel.

The final result will be a soft melding and interplay of tones that change as the hair moves.
