HOW-TO STEPS

  • 1

Divide the hair from ear to ear, then clip the front section away and create a low, inverted ponytail with the bottom section.

  • 2

Split the ponytail into two sections, one bigger than the other. Tease only the top of the ponytail—the more you tease, the bigger the chignon will be.

  • 3

Spray the underside of the ponytail with Kenra Professional Volume Spray 25 and brush to create a smooth finish. Fold each section of the ponytail over your hand, creating the chignon. Secure with bobby pins.

  • 4

Take the top/front sections and decide where you want your part. If you have a side part, you will create three equal diagonal forward sections on the side with the most hair, then two sections on the side with the least hair. Using Kenra Whipped Taffy 20, take the first bottom section and twist away from the face, lightly pulling out loops to create an airy feel. The Whipped Taffy encapsulates pockets of air for that lightweight, fluffy texture with a matte, firm hold. Secure with a bobby pin. Alternate twisting each section, starting from the bottom on each side, until the hair is all pinned.

  • 5

Take the tails of the twists and tuck them into the chignon. Fan out the chignon and close the spaces on the sides, then pin. Spray Kenra Platinum Hi-Def Hairspray 16 on a kabuki brush and brush away the flyaways.
