Stella Maxwell was rocking hair for days at the 2018 Met Gala, and it was styled by none other than longtime stylist and friend Virtue® Creative Director Adir Abergel (@hairbyadir)! Drawing inspiration from this year’s theme—”Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”—Adir opted for super long locks to accentuate Stella’s saintly Jeremy Scott-designed Moschino gown, creating the ultimate ethereal vibe. Find out Adir’s inspiration behind the hair, then get the steps to recreate this look below!

“I really wanted to bring a certain religious element to the look,” says Adir. “I pulled references from girls around the world that grow their hair out for religious purpose and ceremony. The extreme length adds an ethereal element.”

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Start by washing the hair with Virtue® Full Shampoo. Then, treat both her hair and the extensions with Virtue® Restorative Treatment Mask to revitalize the health and suppleness of the hair.

2

Then, create a natural center part and rake Virtue® Uplifted Volumizing Whip through the hair.

3

To create texture, braid various sized sections of hair for a natural, undone effect. Then, blow-dry the hair with the Bio Ionic 10X Dryer while scrunching the braided pieces for even more movement.

4

Once the hair is dry, take neat sections starting at the nape and began the extension application process. Work your way up by following the shape of the head.

5

Finish the style by adding Virtue® Lifting Powder throughout the strands to add ethereal texture.
