Rachel McAdams’ Modern Finger Waves
It comes as no surprise that style queen Rachel McAdams rocked the red carpet of the 2016 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. Donning a gorgeous embellished black gown and effortlessly cool modern finger waves, the Spotlight actress proved, once again, that she’s a total star on and off-screen.
The man behind her locks? That would be Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend.
“Rachel knew she wanted an effortless look when it came to her hair,” says Mark. “Her Elie Saab black beaded gown was stunning, so we wanted to balance it out by giving a sexy nod to the 1930s coif.” Here’s how Mark achieved Rachel’s lived-in texture.
Artist: Mark Townsend
Start by applying several drops of NEW Dove Regenerative NourishmentSerum-in-Oil to damp hair to nourish hair and seal the cuticle.
Blow out the hair with a small, round Spornette Mixed Bristle Brush.
Once hair is fully dry and smoothed out, start to create texture by using a 1-inch ghdcurve™ classic curl iron to loosely wave the underneath section of the hair. “I love this curling iron because it features ghd’s tri-zone™ technology, which allows me to style hair at the optimal temperature of 365 degrees,” says Mark. “This ensures styles last longer without causing extra damage.
Next, concentrate your efforts on the top section, using the new ghd platinum™ styler to give added shine and create soft bends in an “S” formation.
Set the hair around the face with flat clips in said “S” shapes and let it cool.
Remove the clips, and spray with LOTS of Dove Refresh+Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo for volume, texture and grit.
