We always love seeing the newest creative color creations from Frances Garcia(@makeupbyfrances) of CaLooks Salon in Visalia, Calif. This time around, she added a vibrant, multidimensional purple root to an icy, platinum blonde. This particular look was inspired by a watercolor painting, and we have to say, it’s pretty spot-on.

“I’m always trying to invent new ways to apply color without having the whole head covered—but still being different and noticeable,” shares Frances. “I love watercolor paintings, and I thought that would be an interesting technique to try on a white blonde. It’s like a piece of paper—I just want to color it!”

FORMULA STEPS

1. Apply Formula A from scalp to line of demarcation. Process for 25 to 45 minutes.

2. Tone using Formula B. Process for 15 to 20 minutes or until hair reaches desired tone.

3. Freehand paint Formulas C, D, E and F in random sections throughout the base with a Framar Angled Brush to create a custom-blended, watercolor effect. “I applied some colors alone, but mostly mixed the colors to create custom tones,” says Frances.

4. Rinse and condition only, using Wella Professionals LuxeOil Masque. Frances finished by applying Kenra Professional Platinum Blow-Dry Spray and blowing-dry. She used Wella Professionals EIMI Sugar Lift for hold and Sebastian Professional Dark Oil for a smooth finish.
