COLOR FORMULAS

  • Natural/Starting Level:

    4/Asian hair

  • Formula A (root color):

    40g 4N + 5g Dark N/N + 40g 10-volume developer (permanent)

  • Formula B (balayage):

Equal parts Enlightener + 40-volume developer

  • Formula C (toner):

    40g 8N + 6g Dark V/R + 40g 5-volume developer

FORMULA STEPS

1. Apply Formula A to the roots, and comb down about four inches.

2. Section the hair into quadrants. Then balayage using Formula B, slicing with a diagonal back starting with the back hairline and working your way up. “For this look, I alternated between two techniques for each section,” notes Megan. “In one section, I would weave (4 to 6 strand weave) then tease, then balayage, feathering upward. Then for the next section I would slice, tease and balayage.”

3. Process until the midshaft reaches a Level 9 and ends reach a Level 10. Note: the midshaft will be a tad brassy, which is perfect for this toner to enhance the rose gold color.

4. Rinse, shampoo with Aveda Damage Remedy Shampoo and towel-dry at the shampoo bowl. Then apply Formula C all over, in sections if needed. Process for 5 to 10 minutes.

5. Rinse with cold water, shampoo and finish with Aveda Damage Remedy Mask.
