FORMULA STEPS

Before

1. Start by applying Formula A like a virgin application, meaning, apply the lightening formula ½ an inch away from the scalp to avoid hot roots and over-processing. Place cotton between each section to protect the scalp and avoid overlapping.

2. Process for one hour, but use a heat cap in the last 1o minutes of processing to trap some heat and lift the new growth. “Because she is a natural Level 7, I didn’t need to use foils for additonal heat,” notes Becca.

3. To get rid of any yellow, apply Schwarzkopf Professional Bond Sealer first. Then, do a wet balayage application with Formula B, avoiding the newly lightened hair. “I applied Bond Sealer to add more bonds to the hair with the intention of using the Bond Sealer as a diluter to the lightener for the wet balayage,” Becca explained.

Note: This client’s previously lightened hair was very yellow because her hair hasn’t been toned in almost three months.

4. Process for about six minutes, then shampoo with Schwarzkopf Professional GOODBYE YELLOW® first, then do another round with Schwarzkopf Professional BC Bonacure COLOR FREEZE Silver Shampoo. “Both of these shampoos bring the hair back to a pH of 4.5,” explains Becca. “This is key before toning.”

Pro Tip: A healthy pH level of 4.5 to 5.5 will help hair maintain its elasticity and moisture, help prolong color fading AND will lessen dryness and breakage.

5. Tone with Formula C and let process for 10 minutes before rinsing.
