We’re constantly scrolling through Instagram, and when we caught sight of this pretty-but-effortless-looking blend created by BTC Team Member Farhana Premji (@xo.farhana.balayage), we immediately gave it a double tap and wanted to know more.

Turns out, the process was anything but effortless (it rarely is for beautiful color!). Farhana used a mix of formulas, products and techniques—like two lightening and toning formulations, the new Color Complete Collection from Moroccanoil® and then a combination of foiling and open-air balayage to create this incredibly blended honey hue. Check out the formulas and steps below!

COLOR FORMULAS

  • Formula A:

Wella Professionals BLONDOR + 20-volume developer

  • Formula B:

Wella Professionals Freelights White Lightening Powder + 40-volume developer

  • Formula C:

Redken Shades EQ 07V + 07N + Shades EQ Processing Solution

FORMULA STEPS

1. Before applying Formulas A and B, use the new Moroccanoil® Color Complete ChromaTech Prime to create the perfect canvas for lightening the hair. “It’s amazing for balayage because it opens the cuticle on virgin hair and makes it easier to lift those stubborn transition areas,” says Farhana.

2. Next, apply Formula A in foils and Formula B using an open-air balayage technique. Alternate between the two formulas, let process and rinse.

3. Next, glaze with Formula C at the midlengths and Formula D at the ends.

4. After rinsing, apply the Moroccanoil® ChromaTech Post to ensure the best color results and to restore the integrity of the hair. Plus, it will add longevity to your balayage toners!

5. Then, use the Moroccanoil® Color Continue Shampoo and Conditioner, blow-dry and style as desired using the Moroccanoil® Protect & Prevent Spray.
