FORMULA STEPS

Before

1. Start by prelightening her hair with Formula A. As you work throughout the head, bump up the developer little by little until you reach 25-volume developer.

2. Process until her strands reach the desired level, then rinse and shampoo and condition with Redken Color Extend Magnetics Shampoo And Conditioner

3. Apply Formula B from the crown to the nape, leaving the hairline out. Process for 15 minutes. “I wanted to create dimensions instead of a one tone/flat look, and I also wanted her face-frame to pop,” notes Daniel. “So I decided to tone the crown and nape with a deeper formula that’d work as a midnight against her natural haircolor and then toned the hairline with the lightest formula to make it pop.”

4. In the last 5 minutes of processing, apply Formula C around the hairline for a bright, neutral, dimensional look. “Mixing a Level 9 with clear is useful but can give you unexpected tonal value,” shares Daniel. “Now that Redken has a 10 series, I know exactly what I’m gonna get each time.

5. Rinse and condition the ends only, then apply Formula D as the shadow root. Process for 15 minutes.

6. Rinse with cold water to lock in color and then follow with conditioner.

7. Prep the hair with Redken Extreme Play Safe and Redken One United All-In-One Multi-Benefit Treatment, then blow-dry.

8. Curl the hair using a 1¼-inch Hot Tools® Professional Marcel Iron and then apply Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and Oribe AirStyle Flexible Finish Cream to polish her waves.
