Want strong dimension and maximum brightness when working with lower haircolor levels? Look to BTC Team Member Mallery Share (@hellobalayage) for her slanted, panel-painting technique! She recently created dimensional ribbons on a Level 3 base by heavily saturating each section and slant-painting bold points of light. Get her formulas and steps below!

  • Formula B:

FORMULA STEPS

1. Starting with a natural Level 3 and some existing balayage (done about a year prior), paint Formula A onto vertical, slanted sections using diagonal partings. Heavily saturate on both the top and the bottom of each slanted section.

Paint with a purpose! @hellobalayage likes to paint slants and work in vertical sections for strong pops of light.

2. Work heavily in the crown area to create maximum brightness around the face and on the surface of the hair.

3. After each section is painted, use Framar Funked Up Film to incubate, then let process for 45 minutes without heat.

Incubate the hair with plastic wrap and no heat!

Pro Tip: Painting slants of hair creates bold points of light—leaving the hair with a ribbon-like effect.

4. Once the hair has reached the desired level of lift, rinse and apply Formula B to the root area, melting it down a few inches for a seamless blend at the base.

5. Apply Formula C to the rest of the hair and let process for 15 minutes.

6. Finally, rinse, shampoo and condition
