The delicate, cool hues of a pearl nestled in its oyster shell inspired this elegant haircolor design by Amy Michleb, National Director Haircolor, Red Door Spa, Elizabeth Arden.  Working on prelightened hair with Wella ILLUMINA haircolor, Amy combines shades of pastel pink, pale violet, violet blonde and pearl to create this shimmering, multidimensional blend.  The majority of the color variation is concentrated on the triangular top section in order to highlight the shape of the cut, which was created by Red Door National Training Director Woody Michleb. Here is Amy’s technique.

FORMULA STEPS

1. Prelighten all strands to Level 10.

2. Create a triangular top section that extends from behind the crown to the hairline. The shape should be slightly asymmetrical to reflect the shape of the cut and will narrow slightly in front to allow the base color to blend.

3. Clip away the top section.

4. Apply the base formula to all remaining hair.

5. Release the top. Begin on the longest side and create a diagonal slice that extends the length of the section. Apply Toner C.

6. Create a second, back-to-back slice. Apply Toner A to Zone 1 and Toner B to midlengths and ends, blending carefully.

7. On the next adjacent diagonal section, create a tight weave. Apply Toner D to the bottom of the weave, cover with foil and apply Toner C to the remainder of the weave.

8. On the next slice, apply Toner C.
9. Apply Toner A to the next slice.

10. Create another tight weave.  Apply Toner D to the bottom and Toner B to the top.

11. Apply Toner A to the next slice.

12. Apply Toner C to the next slice.

13. Apply Toner D to the next slice.

14. Apply Toner C to the final slice.

15. Process 15 to 20 minutes, shampoo and condition the hair.
