Disheveled Men’s Cut from Lindsay Baker
In last few years, there has been a major resurgence in men’s traditional barbering styles. Looks ranging from tapered fades, multi-textured styles and shoulder-length hair are all trending. But if he wants to get away from classic, tailored cuts, a modern-day skater look may be just what he’s after. This cut, courtesy of TONI&GUY stylist Lindsay Baker offers moveable texture, while still keeping the length for a disheveled, lived-in look. Here’s how its done!

HOW-TO STEPS
-
1
-
2
Establish a halo section through to the top of the occipital bone.
-
3
Start in the back. Take a central vertical section, comb to a 90 degree angle and slice square.
-
4
Continue with vertical sections, combing to 90 degree angle and cutting square.
-
5
Overdirect the last section at the ear back to the previous section to allow for the hairline.
-
6
From the ear forward, use a block layering technique. Take a horizontal section parallel to the halo, comb to a 90 degree angle and slice from the layering length at the ear rounding to slightly shorter at the front.
-
7
Overdirect the remaining hair to this guide and continue to blend with slicing.
-
8
Detail the perimeter length by combing to the natural fall and free-hand slicing to remove excess lengths.
-
9
Work back through the shape with a mixture of twist-cutting and slicing to remove weight.
-
10
Establish a radial parting from the crown to the ear. Take a central vertical section, comb to 90 degrees and use the guide to lengthen from the underneath. Continue to slice creating a slight increase in length towards the crown.
-
11
Use pivoting radial sections through the back, comb to 90 degrees and slice, following the guide.
-
12
On the top, take a central vertical section, comb to 90 degrees and slice, decreasing in length towards the fringe.
-
13
Continue with pivoting radial sections, comb to 90 degrees and repeat the slicing technique.
-
14
