How-To: Penelope Cruz’s ’80s-Inspired Hair for Harper’s Bazaar

Oribe cut and styled Penelope Cruz’s hair into voluminous curls for the May cover of Harper’s Bazaar. “I wanted to do something ’80s inspired,” Oribe said. “She always wants to do something that’s not your typical look, so we came up with this together. I also cut about two inches off her hair, which she loved. It was nice to do something different that really stands out on newsstands.”

Want to create this voluminous look on your curly clients? Here’s the how-to!

    1. Apply Curl By Definition, wrapping it around curls and keeping the hair’s movement as natural as possible.

    2. Blow-dry hair with a diffuser and then smooth bangs with the hairdryer a little to bring softness to the front of the hair. Spot-dry it wherever you want it straighter and smoother.

    3. Curl sections here and there with a 1-inch curling iron.
