Wella International Trend 2013: The Sound of Color

Can you hear it?  It’s the Sound of Color—a multi-sensorial celebration of sound and imagery, aka the 2013 Wella International Trend.  Created by Wella Global Creative Directors Eugene Souleiman and Josh Wood, this music-inspired collection celebrates sound and all genres of music, and acknowledges the vital role that every type of music plays when it comes to spurring ideas and generating new forms of creativity.  “I react very well with music, I see colors, I see textures, I see shape, I see movement,” declares Eugene. “I get the feeling for the character that we try to create for a collection, so for me marrying those two areas is actually quite a natural process.”  Josh reveals that this collection breaks new ground for Wella. “This year, creating The Sound of Color has given me as a colorist the license to break all the boundaries and experiment,” he says.  “I really tried to reach a level of artistry in color that we’ve never reached before.  And I believe this shows the world what Wella can be—not what we already believe it is.”
The four looks in the collection—Fusion, Allegra, Decibel and Echo—each capture a key shape, color and feeling for the year ahead.  The trend development is based on exhaustive research on fashion, fabrics, art, music, street culture and more, and then culled and distilled into the looks that Eugene and Wood believe will impact hair trends moving forward.  “These trends are vibrant and bold,” comments Wella Professionals Global General Manager Sylvie Moreau.  “They’re a reaction to the times we’re living in and a source of new ideas for stylists.”
