Vivienne Mackinder – Poetic License

“One should either be a work of art or wear a work of art.”  Those were the words of the great poet Oscar Wilde, who was a source of inspiration for Vivienne Mackinder’s latest collection “Poetic License.”   The Aesthetic Movement, which Wilde was known for being part of, is reflected in the intricate, decadent settings which serve as the perfect backdrops for these stunning cuts and glamorous makeup.

Vivienne’s cuts were inspired by boys haircuts from the Poets Society and England’s Eton School boys.  “Poetic License” mixes the elements of texture and structured shapes, all recreated by the art of razor cutting for soft defused lines.  It’s an interesting source of inspiration, but beautifully executed and wildly feminine.  And fitting, considering the words of Wilde…“One should always be a little improbable.”
