ToniandGuy 14th Annual Photographic Awards
Recently, Dallas, Texas was chock full of fashion, music and brilliant hair at the Toni&Guy 14th Annual Photographic Awards. The evening drew hundreds of Toni&Guy beauty pros and academy students from all over the world, where unforgettable hair, pumpin’ music and a touching tribute to Guy Mascolo were the main attractions.
The event, which was held at the Marriott at Legacy Town Center on Sunday, June 14th, featured live cutting demos; the finished models represented the team’s latest hair collection New Puritan. Plus, the show’s avant garde segment featured clothing designed by none other than Vivienne Westwood and hair inspired by the designer’s whimsical fashions.
Ever the music aficionados, the Toni&Guy event featured three cool bands, two of which boasted band members who were hairdressers for Toni&Guy. After the crowd was on a collective high from the music, the evening proceeded into the photographic awards where students, stylists and salons were honored in the Cut, Color, Texture, Men’s, Total Look, Avant Garde, Make-Up, Student, Best Salon Team, Colorist of the Year and Hairdresser of the Year categories. The event closed with a high-energy performance from Drive A.
Big winners of the night included Dawn Clark, who took home three awards, including Colorist of the Year. “My inspiration was to capture a classic, moody feel with a slight edge. I kept everything very industrial and simple,” Clark explained. Carolina Yasukawa took home two awards—for Texture and Hairdresser of the Year. Amber Miller, National Make-Up Director for Toni&Guy, took home her third win in the Make-Up Category with her unique Candy Land board game concept.
