Tessuto by Marcello Moccia

If you haven’t brushed up on your Italian, the word means “fabric” in that lovely language. And really, isn’t that what hair is all about? It’s the raw fabric of your art. And like the silk or wool or charmeuse, your fabric can be snipped, shaped, draped, frayed, unraveled or molded in order to express your vision. There’s another angle to the fabric reference. A brilliant fashion designer knows how a fabric can best enhance the wearer—gliding over curves, elongating or minimizing, teasing and delighting the eye. That’s what a brilliant hair artist does with his or her fabric too—manipulates it to bring out the utmost in the wearer, rendering her confident, in control and incomparably chic.
