Runway Rundown: Spring Fashion Week 2006

From big, bouncy waves to sleek low ponytails, a healthy, natural look dominated at shows from Versace to Tracy Reese at Spring Fashion Week this year!

Healthy, shiny hair was the top trend on many of the runways this year!  Runways coiffed by Warren-Tricomi highlighted the trend, with cascading waves, volume and ultra-femininity.  The Redken-styled Versace catwalk featured a version of this simplified, sexy look.

The up-and-down look was also big, with hair twisted back and loose off the face at many top shows.  Tracy Reese, styled by Joico, showed a sophisticated take on the style, with smooth, straight hair, and a lift at the crown.  Gucci’s up-down looks were decidedly more free-spirited, with elegant twists taming beachy waves.

Ponytails were all the rage for spring, too. Miu Miu, another Redken runway, featured a slightly messy, textured look, while Redken’s Prada ponytails were sleek and shiny.  Guido Palau (Redken) noted of this year’s ponytails, “It’s not a sweet, schoolgirl type, it’s very sophisticated with elements of shine, bohemian texture, accessories and shape to strengthen and modernize the look for the season.”

Twists, braids, loose updos – all made an appearance on the catwalks this fashion week, but no matter how it was styled, hair was shiny, bouncy and healthy-looking for the spring collections!  Edward Tricomi said it best: “It’s about really pretty, sexy hair.”
