NAHA 19 Hairstylist of the Year Charlie Price’s “Cloudburst” Collection is truly out of this world!  Charlie was going for a “sexy alien” theme, and he achieved great heights by cutting up wigs and adding layers of synthetic hair to create these three unique looks. 

“I used wigs and synthetic hair so it would be hard to decipher what was done,” explained Price.  “I used Rusk Weightless Hairspray and regular bobby pins to create a version of the “soft, frizzy look” that has preoccupied the fashion and beauty world as of late.  I also love all the shine in makeup and clothing seen over the past few seasons and I wanted to do something with those cheesy [clothing] pieces from American Apparel that have been everywhere for the last couple of years.”

For makeup, Price enlisted the assistance from makeup artist and “dramatic eye specialist” Jill Vincent to transform the models.  “She was successful in incorporating the metallic elements of the wardrobe into the makeup for the shoot, and created an outstanding icy-blue smoky eye on the blonde [model],” expressed Price.  “It added some interesting range to our beauty statement.”

Photographer Memo was brought on by Price to photograph the collection.  “I was very excited to work with Memo,” said Price.  “He does great ‘green screen’ treatments to his photos and I was thrilled with his tasteful application of post-production effects.  He provided the proper balance to avoid what I always refer to as the ‘hair show overkill.’
