Making the CMBScene Chicago Midwest Beauty Show

For three action-packed days, February 26-28, 2005, the Chicago Midwest Beauty Show® (CMBS), America’s Beauty Show® took “Center Stage” in the world of beauty.  With a record number of salon professional and student attendees, it was the place to be…to learn the latest in salon and spa techniques, products and fashion.

Check out all the details by clicking on the individual images!

Seen on the CMBScene – Horst Rechelbacher, Antoinette Beenders, Luis Alvarez (and stage partner, Carson Kressley!), Beth and Carmine Minardi, Carlo Bay, Robert Cromeans, James Morrison, and so many others active in making our world a more beautiful place.

Among the innovations at this year’s show were the keynote presentation by industry icon Horst Rechelbacher; the glamour and excitement of TWO Center Stages; Monday’s class with color and style experts Beth and Carmine Minardi; a two-day Healthy Multicultural Hair Conference; and the many individual workshops where the focus was pure education.

On the show floor, salon owners and managers who qualified for VIB (Very Important Buyer) status were given a first look at “Beauty City” –the wave of the future in salon services and equipment brought exclusively to CMBS by Takara-Belmont.  And a record 450 exhibitors filled 270,865 net square feet of exhibit space housing products, platform stages and interactive displays.

Manufacturer Classrooms were available for the first time this year, and nearly a dozen hair, skin and nail companies took advantage of the opportunity to showcase their master stylists, along with the latest techniques and newest products in a special classroom setting.

Latino leaders in fashion and beauty brought new styling techniques, textures and cuts for the Latino woman and man to CMBS; the 3rd Annual International Nail Technicians Association®(INTA) Conference provided product knowledge, education and networking opportunities with their peers; the CMBS Student Conference featured Robert Cromeans who spoke realistically as a hairdresser and salon owner, while he motivated and excited students about how to make money as a hairdresser; and the 2005 USA Beauty Open as well as Student and Junior Hairdressing Competitions offered students and professionals a unique opportunity to compete and gain valuable competition experience plus win cash prizes and scholarships.
