Carney executed this by blending Joico’s new cutting-edge formulas (“the science”) with the elemental techniques of haircutting and styling (“the art”) to transform various hair textures and shapes into “global visions of healthy hair.”

“By doing this for each of the Joico categories, we also created problem-solution scenarios, where we showed how people with various hair issues can achieve healthy, beautiful hair,” says Carney.

Joico’s International Artistic Director, Damien Carney is a London-born artist whose multi-faceted expertise and extensive travel has resulted in an international reputation for excellence.   Damien is renowned in the global beauty industry not only for working with supermodels and celebrities, but also for his execution in the art of hair cutting, coloring and styling. His styling technique ranges from pure and classic to the hottest, cutting-edge looks hot off the runway.

In the beginning of his career, Damien was a platform and educational artist with other professional manufacturers, and at the same time was represented by an agent for his cutting edge editorial work.  For eight years, he was the co-owner of the prestigious and trendy MacMillian Salon in Covent Garden, London. After that he joined his favorite hairdresser, Trevor Sorbie, who retrained and hired him to work in his London salon. In a short period of time, Damien was promoted to Principal of Education at Trevor’s influential Saville Row Academy of Hair. This is where he learned detail and quality in hairdressing – Trevor opened doors in his creative and technical brain that he didn’t know existed.

Since then, Damien has built his reputation on a strong foundation of originality and inspiration. He’s worked closely with leading consumer and trade publications including Elle, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, GQ, W, Harpers Bazaar, Modern Salon, American Salon, Salon News and more.
