Joico Artificial Reality Collection- Spring 2006

Call it a mirage or an optical illusion, but reality is not always what it seems.  That’s the idea behind Artificial Reality, Joico’s glamorous and thought-provoking collection for Spring, 2006.  Artifice, Simulated and Surreal are the three identities within this season’s approach, conceived to blur the line between the natural and the synthesized, and present a complex portrait of modern femininity.

Click on the individual images for more detail on achieving these looks.

Artificial Reality integrates cut, styling and color to expose and define the face-shape by structuring hair up and away from the cheekbones, or molding sensuously over the brow.  Sharp silhouettes are reinforced by the dynamic use of hair accessories, including headbands to sweep hair away from the facial architecture. Asymmetrical shapes suggest shattered versions of classical geometric cuts, as though viewed through a prism or broken mirror. Contrasting color also punctuates each style.  For the spring, Joico takes what is artificial in the world and makes it a reality, taking the art of healthy hair to the next level.

The effect of Artificial Reality is simultaneously tough and soft, combining the aggressive attitude of very short hair with the soft, romantic associations of long locks in a single multi-dimensional coiffure.
