Intercoiffure Autumn/Winter 2004-2005 Collection

Under the direction of Richard Calcasola, Fashion Chairperson of Intercoiffure USA/Canada and Connie Sullivan owner and creative director of Genesis, a leading salon in Boston, the look which hair will take for the season ahead was presented to the organization’s global members at its World Congress held in Tokyo in May 2004.

Knowing that the direction for the salon industry must follow fashion’s road, the hair trends shown for Autumn-Winter 2004-05 by Intercoiffure USA/Canada interpret the current vintage-inspired looks but with a new twist – texture.

Recognized as style innovators, Mr. Calcasola, Connie Sullivan and other Intercoiffure members offered a visual impression of “hair ahead” created to challenge the creativity of hair stylists while suiting the needs and desires of clients.  The stick-straight look that has dominated the industry for several seasons has now been replaced by texture-dominated waves and curls, for a fresh new look.  Signature styles regardless of length, complement the soft glamour, the lushness and the “bling” that are the hallmarks of clothes for all hours.

To maximize the potential and appeal of these coifs, texture takes top billing.  But since no two textures are alike, the interpretation of a look can reflect the individuality of the wearer while, at the same time, give the stylist an open door to his or her own creative talents.  “It is important to remember” Mr. Calcasola pointed out “that texture is the road map to the cut.  The cut must establish the silhouette but be subtly contained within the texture of the hair.”  He reiterated that professional guidance is a must since to achieve the perfect texture to suit the hair’s silhouette… this is couture hair styling.”

Among the mane attractions which depend on texture are the casual clipped cut, newly interpreted in a more tousled manner, shoulder-length waves a la Madonna and Nicole Kidman and the after-dark up-do, translated for the twenty first century with a slightly messy demeanor.

Intercoiffure USA/Canada wishes to thank Demetrios Couture for providing the fashions which complement the trend-setting hair designs created by Richard Calcasola, Connie Sullivan and their team of top stylists.
