Goldwell Color Zoom 2012 US Semi-Finalists
BTC was thrilled to be invited to Goldwell headquarters in Baltimore, MD to help judge the 2012 Color Zoom competition, joining the likes of Goldwell Special Creative Artist Nick Arrojo, Goldwell Brand Celebrity Stylist Rona O’Connor, Goldwell Guest Artist Dimitrios Tsioumas and other trade media editors. There, we chose 15 US semi-finalists from hundreds of submissions in three categories: Creative Colorist, Partner Colorist and New Talent. Those images will now be sent to Goldwell global headquarters in Germany, where an international panel will select one winner in each category to represent the US at the live international competition in London on October 13, 2012.
Color Zoom entrants were challenged to interpret last year’s trend—FasciNature—and create an image that could work within the collection, but incorporate their own unique style. The key elements of FasciNature focused on “the joy of life”—looks inspired by the shapes and colors found in nature. From a hairdressing perspective, that translates into intense color that appears to glow from within and asymmetric shapes that still maintain balance and sophistication. This year, the US contenders brought their A-games, and selecting the semi-finalists was no easy feat.
