Cutler NYC: The Freedom Collection for Spring/Summer ’04

CUTLER NYC is situated squarely at 57th and Lexington in Manhattan and from this centrally-located vantage point, it draws the best from uptown and downtown.  That means that clients expect (and receive) fresh, artistic work, combined with luxe customer care.  Many of the 60 Cutler staffers routinely toil behind the scenes during Fashion Weeks for the likes of Cynthia Rowley, Proenza Schouler, Vasseur Esquivel and Miss Sixty.

Rubbing elbows with the design wunderkinds that populate the catwalks inspires their creativity and produces collections like this one for Spring/Summer 04.   It has been christened “Freedom” and the tagline in the salon look book reads: “If hair could talk, it would cry Freedom.”    Freedom of expression is evident in the dreamy, photographic style, with its blurred edges and watercolor hues.

It’s also evident in the hair.  The Cutler crew identifies four key trends for the season.

Textured Curls:  A jolly jumble of curl shapes and sizes, created with a combination of curling irons, hot rollers and pin curls.  Redken Fresh Curls Spin Control sets the stage on damp hair; Rough Paste 12 Working Material holds and defines.

Miss Sixties Bangs:  No matter the length or style, make fringes Mod.  That means they’re full, sexy and sophisticated.  Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide gives them gloss without stiffness.

Modern Shag:  This new classic is more versatile than ever with lots of layers in varying lengths.  Cutler clients like their shags swept off the face this season and held in place with Redken Concrete 12 Cement Paste.

Dimensional Bob:  Update this timeless ‘do with choppy, razored layers.  The silhouette stays put, the internal structure rocks!
